1. How can I tell if this is the right camp for my child?
The activities Champion Summer Camp offers are time-tested and proven to appeal to the majority of children. Camp was designed with the "average" kid in mind and typically provides great experiences for kids of different athletic ability and different social ability. Most kids have a great time at camp, but kids who enjoy sports, games, and social situations typically love it the most.
2. What if my child is shy or not very athletic?
At Champion Summer Camp, we believe that attitude is much more important than physical ability. We understand that some campers are more introverted than others, but as long as your child is willing to participate and try hard, we will see to it that camp becomes a very positive and rewarding experience for them. Please give us a call at 415-602-0722 to discuss your child in greater detail if a personality trait or physical ability is a concern of yours.
3. What are the age limits to attend Champion Summer Camp?
4. Can I sign up for just part of a session?
We feel strongly that attending a full session from start to finish is the best way to maximize the experience. We also feel that more than one week is required for a camper to get the most benefit from the experience. But if your schedule does not allow a full session, you can select the exact dates you want, pending availability. Feel free to contact Tony Basso at 415-602-0722 to discuss your situation further.

6. Can you give me more detail about the sports, games, and activities that my child will play?
A wide variety of sports, games, and activities are offered at Champion Summer Camp. Every group will have six scheduled activities per day. The schedule will change each day and each schedule is customized for the age and gender of a specific group at camp (for example youngest girls will have arts & crafts every day while oldest boys may only have it once in a session). Certain core sports (soccer, dodgeball, basketball, etc...) are played more frequently than periphery activities (croquet, ping pong, badminton, etc...). All campers get a "free play" period at lunch where they will get to choose from a variety of different options. All Wednesdays at camp feature a field trip, while camp contests that may last for an entire afternoon are held on Fridays.
Click here to see a list of activates offered at camp (under "Let's Play"). However, please feel free to contact us to get more information on this topic.
7. How does drop off and pick up differ on field trip days?
Camp will follow normal drop off and pick up times on all field trip days. Campers should be dropped off and picked up just like they would be on any other camp day.
8. Can you tell me more about your staff?
Each group is led by a counselor. All counselors must be at least 18 years old, have completed one year of college, have an athletic background (at least at the high school level), and have prior camp experience. Typically our staff will feature a mix of counselors that range from college sophomores to young graduates to young teachers.
Every group will also have at least one Junior Counselor (JC). JCs must be at least 16 years old and also must be involved in high school athletics. It is worth noting that each of our groups with kids ages 10 and younger will also have a Counselor In Training (CIT) to assist with group supervision as well. CITs are not paid staff (and thus not included in any of our staff to camper ratios), but candidates are carefully screened and they offer another set of eyes and hands to help manage the group they are assigned to.
Age, experience, and athletic background are important considerations for every staff member, yet they all pale in comparison to attitude. The sparkling staff personalities are what make camp special, as they entertain and maintain order within every group.
9. What is your payment/refund/cancellation policy?
Prior to May 15, you are required to pay a non-refundable $95 deposit per session to secure a place in camp for your child. If your session cost totals less than $95, you must pay 100% of the session fees at sign up, and the fees will be non-refundable. Full balance payments are due on May 15 and no portion is considered refundable after this date. All refund/cancellation requests must be submitted by e-mail to info@championsummercamp.com. No request should be considered confirmed until an explicit reply has been sent back to you from a Champion staff member.
10. What is your session transfer policy?
You can request to transfer from one session to another for a fee. Requests will be granted based on availability and are not guaranteed. Session transfers carry a $50 administration fee. Any requested change must be confirmed through e-mail by a Champion staff member to be considered valid.
11. Will I be charged for changing my schedule within a session after I sign up?
You can request to switch days or remove days from a session plan for a fee. Requests will be granted based on availability and are not guaranteed. Requests carry a $25 per camper per day fee. Any requested change must be confirmed through e-mail by a Champion staff member to be considered valid.
12. How do you charge to add a day(s) to a previously purchased session plan?
Additional days can be purchased and added on to existing plans at a cost of $80 per day added. Any additions requested will be granted based on availability and are not guaranteed. Any requested addition must be confirmed through e-mail by a Champion staff member to be considered valid.
13. Can I remove days from my session once purchased?
14. If I register with the Early Bird discount but then make changes later, will I still get a discount?
The 10% Early Bird discount expires on January 31, 2012. This discount will remain intact (on a percentage basis) until May 15, 2012 regardless of changes made to any session that originally qualified for this discount (however, change fees will be applied as described above for any change made). Any change made after May 15, 2012 nullifies the Early Bird discount awarded at the time the plan was purchased.
15. Do you offer "Make Up" days for missed time at camp?
No "Make Up" days are offered at camp for missed time. Like most standard day care programs, any missed day is considered to be time that has been forfeited.
16. What happens if I am late picking up my child from camp?
Any child still at camp at 4 pm is automatically checked into Extended Care. Please note that this service is used by many families as an impromptu service, thus we assume all kids still at camp after 4 pm are there at the will of the parents. We do not call parents unless a child indicates they should have been picked up.
17. How is time in Extended Care tracked and billed?
Time is tracked on a per child basis. We charge $1.50 for every 10 minutes ($9 hourly rate) of time accrued per child. Our staff will record the times you drop off or pick up your child during extended care. We will sum the total you accrue and bill you for this time at the end of the session using the billing information we have on file. Parents are welcome to check our records at camp any time they like.
18. What if I am late picking up my child from Extended Care?
At 5:30 PM our Extended Care rate changes to $1 per minute per child. We also will start calling all emergency contacts provided.
19. Which Bay Area cities typically send campers to Champion Summer Camp?
Champion Summer Camp is pleased to provide fun recreational summer camp activity to campers from all over the Bay Area. Bay Area Peninsula cities that take advantage of our summer day camp services include: San Francisco, San Bruno, Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo, Belmont, Hillsdale, Foster City, San Carlos, Redwood Shores, Woodside, Redwood City and more.
20. Did this camp change its name? Was it Olympic Summer Camp in the past?
Yes. In the summer of 2010, we operated under the name "Olympic Summer Camp". Per request of the US Olympic Committee, we legally changed our name in 2011. Aside from the change in name, this is the same great camp it has been in the past. Our Tax ID did not change as a result of this name change.
Our Tax ID is 27-1415222.
