Tax ID & Other Miscellaneous

26. What is Champion Summer Camp's Tax ID?
27. Which Bay Area cities typically send campers to Champion Summer Camp?

1. How can I tell if this is the right camp for my child?

The activities Champion Summer Camp offers are time-tested and proven to appeal to the majority of children. Camp was designed with the "average" kid in mind and typically provides great experiences for kids of different athletic ability and different social ability. Just about all kids have a great time at Champion (roughly 99% satisfaction), but kids who enjoy sports, games, and social situations typically love it the most. However, we have an amazing track record of "winning over" shy kids and athletically-challenged kids as well. We encourage you to give us a call at 415-602-0722 if you have questions or are unsure if Champion Summer Camp is right for your child.

2. What if my child is shy or not very athletic?

At Champion Summer Camp, we believe that attitude is much more important than physical ability. We understand that some campers are more introverted than others, but as long as your child is willing to participate and try hard, we will see to it that camp becomes a very positive and rewarding experience for them. Please give us a call at 415-602-0722 to discuss your child in greater detail if a personality trait or physical ability is a concern of yours.

3. What are the age limits to attend Champion Summer Camp?

4. How are kids grouped together at camp?

Before each session begins, your child will be assigned to a group of about 14 children who are their same age and gender. Each group is led by an Executive Counselor and a Counselor, and most groups get additional support from a Counselor In Training (our oldest groups don't need this additional support). The campers and staff members in each group stay the same throughout the camp session. This continuity encourages positive social interaction and provides valuable consistency.

5. Can you give me more detail about the sports, games, and activities that are played at camp?

A wide variety of sports, games, and activities are offered at Champion Summer Camp. Every group will have several scheduled activities per day. The schedule will change every day and each schedule is customized for the age and gender of a specific group at camp (for example youngest girls will have arts & crafts every day while oldest boys may only have it once in a session). Certain core sports (soccer, dodgeball, basketball, etc...) are played more frequently than periphery activities (golf, ping pong, playground, etc...). All campers get a "free play" period at lunch where they will get to choose from a variety of different options. All Wednesdays at camp feature special events, most of which are field trips (click here for our schedule). Zany camp contests (featuring events like launching water balloons, throwing whipped cream pies at the staff, etc.) are held every Friday to start your child's weekend off with a bang!

Click here to see a list of activates offered at camp (under "Let's Play"). However, please feel free to contact us to get more information on this topic.

6. Is every day at camp the same?

A wide variety of sports, games, and activities are offered at Champion Summer Camp. Every group will have several scheduled activities per day. 7. What is the difference among the sessions you offer?

No two sessions at Champion are ever quite the same. Each will have it's own set of special events and every session develops it's own unique "personality". However, our sessions are constructed with the same architecture of special events and Friday adventures. A consistent Champion experience will be provided regardless of which session a child attends.

8. Will my child benefit from participation in more than one session?

If you'd like to give your child extended amounts of happy & healthy outdoor activity this summer, we invite you to consider attending more than one session at Champion. Camp was constructed with a multi-week experience in mind. Our view is that 3 to 6 weeks at Champion is the "right" amount of time in the summer for the most children. Due to the wide variety of activity that we provide over the course of a session (with a changing daily schedule), campers stay engaged and entertained, even if they are participating in an event for a second time. Every session has a unique "personality", and we find that campers have just as much fun (if not more) on their second time through. Don't forget that you will save 10% on any extra time you add at Champion through our Multi-Week Discount.

9. Can you tell me more about your staff?

Three directors (one of whom is also the camp owner) are onsite each day at camp to ensure that operations run smoothly. All camp directors are college graduates that have prior educational and camp experience.

Each group is led by an Executive Counselor. All Executive Counselors are college-age young adults who have experience working with kids and an athletic background. Typically our staff will feature a mix of Executive Counselors that range from inbound college freshman to recent graduates.

Every group will also receive support from a Counselor. Counselors must be at least 15 years old and also must be involved in high school or club athletics. Almost all our groups get a third level of support in the form of a Counselor In Training (CIT) to assist with group supervision as well. CITs are not paid staff (and thus not included in any of our staff to camper ratios), but candidates are carefully screened (they are all former campers now age 13 - 15) and they offer another set of eyes and hands to help manage the group they are assigned to.

Age, experience, and athletic background are important considerations for every staff member, yet they all pale in comparison to attitude. The sparkling staff personalities are what make camp special, as they entertain and maintain order within every group. We only want the best, so if you know any great teens or young adults please direct them to our Job Opportunities page.

10. Can I sign up for just part of a week?

Yes. By-The-Day Registration is offered in all weeks at Champion. Activities at camp are organized in sessions, however, time at camp is purchased on a weekly basis. If your schedule does not allow a full session, you can take advantage of our "Create Your Own Schedule" offering. This dimension of camp allows families to create "perfect fit" schedules of any duration or any combination of days as desired, regardless of the session that they are choosing from. However, we feel strongly that attending a full session from start to finish is the best way to maximize the experience. We also suggest that more than one week of camp is required for a camper to get the most benefit from the experience. Many families attend a week here and there in different sessions. Please contact us to discuss options that best fit into your summer plans.

11. Can I request for my child to be paired with a friend in the same group?

Yes. Our registration form will allow you to specify campers you would like your child to be paired with. We are almost always able to accommodate these requests as long as the campers in question are of the same approximate age/grade. Please note that we group kids by both age and gender, thus we cannot group boys and girls together.

12. What is your daily camp schedule?

Camp Drop Off Window: 8:45 AM – 9:00 AM
Camp Activities: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Camp Pick Up Window: 3:00 PM – 3:15 PM
After Care: 3:15 PM – 4:30 PM

Four activity periods are featured in the morning and three more in the afternoon. A snack break is held each morning at 10:20 AM. Lunch starts at 11:50 AM and is followed by a free play period for the entire camp.

13. How does drop off and pick up differ on field trip days?

Camp will follow normal drop off and pick up times on all field trip days. Campers should be dropped off and picked up just like they would be on any other camp day.

14. What happens if I am late picking up my child from camp?

Any child still at camp at 3:15 pm is automatically checked into Extended Care and standard rates will apply. Please note that this service is used by many families as an impromptu service, thus we assume all kids still at camp after 3:15 pm are there at the will of the parents. We do not call parents unless a child indicates they should have been picked up.

15. What are Champion Summer Camp's payment & cancellation policies?

Please click here for Champion Summer Camp policy information on payments & cancellations.

16. Is it possible to add a day(s) to a previously purchased session plan?

Additional days can be purchased and added on to existing plans. Please send an e-mail to info@championsummercamp.com to check on pricing for any request to add a day(s) to an existing plan. Any additions requested will be granted based on availability and are not guaranteed. Any requested addition must be confirmed through e-mail by a Champion staff member to be considered valid.

17. How do I make schedule changes if my summer plans change after I have already signed up?

Schedule changes can only be made by Champion staff members. Please send an e-mail to info@championsummercamp.com for any schedule change request. Requests will be granted based on availability and are not guaranteed. Any requested change must be confirmed through e-mail by a Champion staff member to be considered valid. Please note that administrative fees may apply depending on the nature and timing of the request involved (any such fee will be communicated through e-mail prior to making a change).

18. Can I remove days from my session once purchased?

Schedule changes can only be made by Champion staff members. Please send an e-mail to info@championsummercamp.com for any schedule change request. Requests will be granted based on availability and are not guaranteed. Any requested change must be confirmed through e-mail by a Champion staff member to be considered valid. Please note that administrative fees may apply depending on the nature and timing of the request involved (any such fee will be communicated through e-mail prior to making a change).

19. What is your transfer policy?

Please click here for Champion Summer Camp policy information on transfers.

20. Why do you charge administrative fees for schedule changes and transfers?

Camp preparation requires extensive planning to have the proper staff, equipment/supplies, and facilities in place to provide a fun and safe experience for all campers. Schedule changes can be very disruptive to the planning process and sometimes set off ripple effects that reverberate far beyond any one individual. Accurate forecasting of camper participation is crucial to the planning process. We recognize that planning ahead is not always possible and that summer plans can change. We strive to accommodate change requests as best we can, and the administrative fees we charge aid us in doing so.

21. How do schedule changes impact the Multi-Week and Sibling discounts that you offer?

Schedule changes have no impact on either our Multi-Week or Sibling discounts. Both discounts give 10% off as described here regardless of how a schedule is altered.

22. Do you offer "Make Up" days for missed time at camp?

No "Make Up" days are offered at camp for missed time. Like most standard day care programs, any missed day is considered to be time that has been forfeited.

23. How is time in Extended Care tracked and billed?

After Care is offered in the afternoon from 3:15 PM to 4:30 PM. This service is available to all Champion families and can be used as needed with no prior notice. Families do not "pre-pay" for blocks of time (which is common in other camp programs). Instead, Extended Care time is tracked on a per child basis. We charge $1.15 per 5-minute increment (which translates to $13.80 per hour) and families are only charged for time used. However, families sending more than one child to After Care will get 50% off on each child after the first.

Our staff will record the times you drop off or pick up your child during extended care. Updates on extended care time accrued will be sent out each week and we will run a payment for this expense at the end of summer using the billing information we have on file.

24. What if I am late picking up my child from Extended Care?

Please note that if a child is still at camp at 4:30 PM then penalties will apply. Specifically we will charge a $25 per child flat fee along with a variable fee of $1.00 per minute per child. We also will start calling all emergency contacts provided.

25. How do I sign up for Choicelunch food service at camp?

To get lunch at camp you must order directly from Choicelunch. You will need to loggin to an existing Choicelunch account or create a new account to do so. Detailed lunch instructions will be sent out by e-mail once Choicelunch's summer menu becomes available (usually in mid-May). Any other questions you have about lunch should be directed to the Choicelunch customer service team:
